Remodel Monday – Waterproof

It seems like it has taken forever, but we finally have a finished roof, shingles and all!

Last time we saw the roof, it was covered with the moisture barrier, but that was it. This was the second week in January.

Then the roof over the porches got added, and the moisture barriers were placed over those parts of the roof.

Now, finally, in the first full week of February, we finally have shingles on our whole roof!
The first day, they only got one section of the addition done.

The next day, they worked like crazy and got almost the whole thing done.

Before they ran out of shingles. Shoot.

But, back at it the next day, they finished that little portion with more shingles, and worked on the ridge cap.

Finally, after what seems like such a long time, we have shingles on our whole roof! It really changes the whole appearance of the house.

Even the back of the house looks great! Well, almost great.

Now I’m about caught up with the construction guys, so hopefully they’ll keep moving right along so I have more pictures to share with you next week. I’m told that the decking for the porches is coming next, and then siding, windows, and doors. Then maybe the house will be draft-proof, too!

  3. Thanks! It’s starting to look like a “real” house. The interior work should be coming along next which really makes it feel like there is progress!

  4. The siding is going to be a light gray, all the exterior trim will be white. We’re hoping it will look really sharp sandwiched between all our red barns!

  5. Looks great! Hard work finally pays off. Roofing is totally takes time when you want it to be precise, durable and good-looking.

  6. Chuck, It does look great! We’ve been really happy with our general contractor and all the subs. They’ve really been working hard for us! Windows and siding are going up this week.
