Remodel Mondays – Warm and Cozy

Roof? Check. Windows? Check. Insulation? Now we’ve got it!

One major thing we found when we tore the drywall off the inside of the old house was that there was no insulation. Up on top of a windy hill, no wonder the house was drafty! So we insulated. Did we ever!

We put blue board Styrofoam on the outside of the house, and insulated the heck out of the inside.

Here’s the eat-in section of the kitchen.

And the “working” section of the kitchen.

Even the mud room got some serious insulation. Don’t want anyone to get cold feet when they’re taking off their nasty boots!

The living room, with its wall of windows, definitely needed every scrap of insulation we could shove in those walls.

And, of course, the bedroom, to keep us nice and toasty.

All the exterior walls and the ceilings are insulated. We will be insulating some of the interior walls around the bathrooms and laundry room, but more for noise than heat. That will be coming soon.

What’s that leaning on the wall in my bedroom? Drywall! Hooray, that’s next on the list!

That means painting is coming soon… Guess I need to get a little more serious about picking out my colors!

  2. I’ve got some ideas, but nothing concrete picked out yet. Andrea gave me a great site for some inspiration - http://design-seeds.com/. It’s my new favorite!

  5. Needs a lot more work, but the progress is fast and it's turning out to be awesome. Your house will be one of the best in your area that's for sure.
